Re: access to fuse box
This is an old post. I'm doing the same this w/e, using the Escort hardwire kit and also adding hardwire for Garmin GPS. If you got your's done, let me know how it went.

Re: access to fuse box
Have you tried taking out the bolt to see if it will slide/drop down (7th gens did, I have not tried my 8th yet)
I need to do the variable delay wiper switch upgrade and need to get to the connector S in the back.
As far as tapping in... those fuses are super tiny. I doubt that the available fuse taps are compatible with them. If you want switched power then parallel off of the 12 volt outlets supply wires.

Re: access to fuse box
Hey guys,
I just bought a 2004 Honda Civic DX Coupe 2dr MT. I will be buying insurance and putting plates on it in 4 days, on Monday!!! Cannot wait. Love the car.
I already ordered the Beltronics Vector 955 Radar Detector (highly rated) and the Garmin Nuvi 255 GPS (older, but also highly rated).
I am also planning to run both my radar detector and GPS to my fuse box. I found a direct wire for the detector, but cannot find a direct wire for the GPS.
Are there additional 12 volt sockets that I can directly wire from my fuse box available, or am I going to have to try something else?
Since we are doing the same job on different gen cars, I'd really like to know how yours goes, and any problems/advice you may have.
Thanks, good luck,
-Nate
P.S. - I also started a thread in ELECTRONICS about swapping out my gauge cluster for one with a tach (from the LX, EX, or Si). You can see photos of my car there.
