Why no new Civic Hatchback?
Why no new Civic Hatchback?
I have a 98 Honda Civic DX Hatchback (6th generation) and I like it very much - its style, size and feel. Compact and sporty. The 5th generation Civic hatchback also looks quite good.
The 7th generation hatchback doesn't look so nice, but it is still okay.
And now, Honda does not even make Civic hatchback anymore!
Why? Why? Why?
The Honda Fit is a nice hatchback but it is not sporty and does not have 'identity' like the 5th and 6th generation Civic Hatchbacks.
In fact, Honda cars nowadays look very boring and conservative. So sad.
I wonder if anybody here share my views.

They still make hatchbacks and probably will keep doing it. Hatchbacks are actually coming up in the world. You are starting to see them everywhere. And lol the EP3 is a great hatchback, its one of my favorites. I have had the EG and still like the EP more. I havent owned a EK yet but still would probably like the EP better.
They have the new style hatch civic type r in foreign countries cause the US is gay and never gets the good stuff, not saying the new type r is better cause the type r before it was proven better in all ways. And the honda fit is a great hatchback also it may not look sporty cause its a family car. And in Japan they use the fit as a track car cause the chassis they say is perfect for it.
The newest addition to the hatches by honda is the CR-Z which is also a great car. I saw the Spoon CR-Z and fell in love with that thing lol.

Ya its a hybrid, it has a 1.5l with the new IMA system and has 122 hp. Not bad for a hybrid with power. You can control on how you want to drive it to. There is 3 buttons to do it. You can either drive in Econ, Normal, or Sport. Cant wait to see what swaps you can do in it lol.

Wow.. that's pretty badass.. better horsepower per liter ratio than my 02 ex.. AND it'll get hella better gas mileage..
Edit: wtf.. just found out the manual has a 6-speed tranny..?

Re: Why no new Civic Hatchback?
Ok, so on paper, the 7th gen civic gets better gas mileage..
CR-Z: 31/37 city/highway
2001-2005 EX: 31/39 city/highway
And the CR-Z has a heavier curb weight.
But any news on the starting price on it?

I for one cannot wait for the CR-Z to go on sale in Canada. Hopefully by then I'll actually have some credit so I'll be able to get financing for a brand spankin' new car.
I hope the head/leg room is okay though.. that is my only issue. That, and the fact that it is a 2 seater. I like my back seats.
