Unhappy Loose wiper blades - need help tightening them

Hey everyone,

I've noticed my wiper blades don't have much tension or force against the windshield anymore and hence, their performance isn't great. I found the following link on Youtube, yet my wipers don't have a "hinge pin and joint mechanism". If they do, it's hiding under a plastic piece or something. I can post a pic if it's needed.

I was wondering how I can put more "spring" into the arm so when I lift the blades up and then lower them, they "snap" down onto the windshield.

Thanks in advance for the help.

you may need better wipers. the best ive tried were bosch micro edge, but those newer beam style icons work good too. the spring in the arm might also be tired and due for replacement.

Can the spring itself be swapped out or is a new arm needed?

Re: Loose wiper blades - need help tightening them

The wiper blades themselves are Michelin Reflexs and are only a month or so used. So they're pretty brand new.

Can the spring itself be swapped out or is a new arm needed?

what kind of car? usually the whole arm needs to be replaced which is fairly easy. just pop off the cap, undo the nut, and swap them out. arm runs anywhere from $15-30 and may even be available at auto parts stores (special order).
