Exclamation New Head Swap Causing Lots of Issues Need Help!!!!!

Ok i run a 05 seden civic automatic it has the stock d17a2 motor i have a fujita cold air intake, Megan Headers and Recently i purchased a head package from Gude performance that included a new camshaft, port and polished throttle body and a hybrid head that is port and polished. The installtion was not to hard and was all done correctly but the check engine light kept comin on car kept boggin out and didnt want to go past 2500RPM so we figured out the issue was fuel air ratio so i bought the APEXI VAFC II and took to FAT tunning in AZ and the tunned it the best they could but it still doesnt want to go past 3300 RPM which is were VTEC wants to kick in but will not allow it and the check engine light is on again and its giving the map sensor code out and also intake leak but there are no leaks. Also when my car sits idle it wants to sit at 690-720rpm and typically will die at a stop light its really annoyin LOL ive been goin through this craziness for a month anyone have any suggestions on what i should do??

So far ive come up with adjustin the throttle body cause its is not opeing enough to fix the low idle RPM and then we think we should replace my map sensor or O ring and someone told me to but HOndata for my car but its way complicated for my vehicle and really expensive to do so so far ive spent an extra $800 i wasnt expecting !!!! RARR i jsut want my car running right!

Re: New Head Swap Causing Lots of Issues Need Help!!!!!

sorry to hear, if you read thru the old posts, you will soon realize what a terrible company gude is. just porting the TB (even if its the stock TB) will cause a ton of problems on its own. im sure the head porting just made everything worse, along with the camshaft. these are very picky engines and porting is rarely a good idea unless you go turbo. you cant throw different parts at a car and expect better performance, even if the company knows what its doing (in this case, they dont). try to swap in a cheap OEM throttle body usually $50 on ebay, just be sure to get the right one for your trans, auto or manual. and do the idle learn procedure once installed. if that doesnt work, youre gonna have to just put the stock cam and head back on.

Where did you wire the vtec wire to? Did you swap the ECU's too?

I would re-read x-productions guide on the ex headswap and use it as a checklist to make sure everything was done properly.

Re: New Head Swap Causing Lots of Issues Need Help!!!!!

Ok so this is what we did we flushed out my entire internals because of the metal shavings and worked out pretty good.

Now when i called Gude and spoke to Bill the owner himself he would not give me the specs on the cam when i asked he continued to say it was a medium grade street cam. WTF lol thats not tellin me much so my phone calls to him were extremly fustrating and also he told me all these issues are because of the tune shop i went to he says they spun a rod and made a bearing go bad. BUT thats not the case hes tryin to just cover himself i may be FEMALE but i am not stupid thank u very much......so THE SOLUTION we took out GUDES perfomace cam and come to find out ITS A STAGE 3 !!!!! idk what he was thinking when he sent that i told him the vehicle is my daily driver and is not a completely built engine sooooo..... we but the stock cam back in and WAAABAMMMM!!! ALL PROBLEMS ELIMINATED!!!! car runs perfectly fine with the GUDE cam out soooo i called him and told him he was not to happy and started to argue raise his voic and cuss at me when i myself the consumer was tryin to keep my cool i agrreed to send him bac the cam if he would make me a stage 1 cam we shall see what happens...

SO FAR MONEY IVE SPENT:

GUDE HEAD PACKAGE= $1450
NUTS AND BOLTS= $150

UNEXPECTED EXPENSES:
VAFC II= $300
FAT TUNE= $315

CAN YOU SEE MY FUSTRATION!

yeah they are a joke, but glad you figured out the problem on your own. i guess they couldnt even spare the time to hot tank the parts so they wouldnt have metal shavings all over like youre supposed to. hopefully that didnt cause too many problems with the engine.
