02 civic lx 1.7 lit , man . trans knocking/rattling sound valve train
02 civic lx, 1.7 lit. non v-tec , man. trans. Trying to diagnose a baby knocking sound fr above # 1 cyl.. I adjusted the valves, didnt see anything obvious (i.e - rockers ,valves, springs,etc.). Comp. test is w/in specs.,eng. has almost 400 k miles,knocking sound around 2200 rpm.Mostly loud by intake w/ stethescope.Wondering if 1 of the rockers is out of tolerance, Any thoughts?

Kinda confused as to whether or not you actually adjusted the valves?
Valve clearance is regular maintenance on this engine. Very simple to do.. I'm sure the guys here have a DIY. You need a 10(?)mm wrench, a flathead screwdriver, and some feeler gauges.
I had this same symptom and valve clearance adjustments solved the problem.
