Hi guys,

My 2001 Civic LX-G sedan recently has been making a weird noise after i start it up. A weird noise which sounds like its coming from the CD player area, has been occurring every time my Daytime Running Lights are on. The noise goes away when I turn on my head lights, or shut off and restart my car a couple of times.

Any information on this problem would be greatly appreciated.

does it sound like buzzing? its prolly the daytime lights relay failing. or the module itself may need repair by taking it apart and resoldering the bad joints. its located where the hood release is i think, behind the plastic panel.

Hey, Ya my car does the same thing wondering what the hell the noise was. Glad that you asked. Now I know.

Its either the DRL relay or the module. The module is located under the driver side dash, which is a gray box with a blue (I believe) connector. In the module you will see some bad solder points, you just have to resolder those points and it should work again...this is what I've read from previous stuff and has worked. I have yet to test this out. Another way to get rid of the noise is to pull the DRL fuses from the fuse box under the steering wheel, but you lose your DRL.

gearbox i got the noise you described the other night, but i thought it was coming from my heater core, i'm going to listen for it again. could that be a reason why when i hit the gas my headlights brighten and dim (and no i have no heavy sound system or alarm installed, i do have lojack so no one come looking for my car lol)
