2002 HX Primary O2 sensor P1166

Hi,

So last week I got a check engine light with code P1166. It an almost identical situation to this post which resulted in this post. I looked in the shop manual and performed the tests. It narrowed it down to a OPEN some where in the Heater System Electrical. The shop manual, in my opinion is VERY poor in this particular case. It implies that there is something wrong with the wiring, but the first item that should be check in the heater element in the O2 sensor itself. There should be a small resistance between the two black wires in the sensor. I measured an OPEN. That would be the OPEN some where in the Heater System Electrical that the shop manual test found. (If someone feels like testing the resistance of there primary 02 sensor in an HX that would be much appreciated as a sanity check.)

So I'm looking to replace the sensor. I see three possibilities
Honda 36531-PLE-305 $229 shipped here
Denso 234-9005 $150 VIA Amazon
Bosch 13680 $131 Via Amazon

I've heard that Denso makes the Honda unit but I have not been able to confirm. This would imply that Denso 234-9005 = Honda 36531-PLE-305.

The Bosch auto parts sight states the 13680 is OE type and wideband. I've seen one post from someone that has installed it, but I've seen no follow up if it worked out long term.

Any though would be appreciated,
Jon

This is just like the dx/lx exhaust isnt it? What makes the HX different (really noob questions I should know the answer to) Kuz the GX is the natural gas version....

I thought the o2's on the 02's were still narrowband- which would mean a much cheaper sensor.

How does the HX model differ from the others anyways?

I don't know about the DX/LX. But the HX O2 sensors are wideband. That's why its more $ -- Jon
