Angry driver's side door lock

ok this is my first post, i just bought an 03 civic lx coupe and there is a problem with the driver's side door lock. i have seen a few posts about people having trouble with the power locks and having to lock their car from the outside with the key, but i am having the opposite problem. the power locks work just fine but the key lock on the outside wont turn. i am probably going to have keyless entry installed anyway but does anybody know how to fix this? thanks.

Re: driver's side door lock

Take the door panel apart and see if something's amiss.

Re: driver's side door lock

i had the same problem with both doors on my ep. if i wanted to lock the doors i would have to go thru the hatch and reach a cross to unlock them. so i just went to honda and spent $75 on a keyless entry remote. Problem solved!

Re: driver's side door lock

the lock cylinder is probally worn down to the point it doesnt recognize the key...

pull the lock cylinder out and rekey it... if you know how to do that... OR get keyless entry, and put rear door handles from a sedan on the front and remove the rods.. LOL

Wifey got an old Saab that had power locks. Only the drivers door would work with a key.Lack of use is equal to misuse.

Re: driver's side door lock

key goes in fine, it just is really hard to turn in the lock like somethings stuck inside. i tried lube sprays, it didnt do anything. also my "safety" no lock feature doesnt work either, the thing thats supposed to not auto lock the door when its open. it locked me out once so i cut off the power cable to the auto lock lol.

Re: driver's side door lock

Re: driver's side door lock

took the door panel off, sprayed wd40 on it, also bought some lock lube stuff and tried using that inside the lock. neither one worked. how much does honda charge for a new lock?
