srs dash light on

srs dash light on
i have a 2001 honda civici bought it off my friend about 6 months ago and the srs light on the dash is on. does this mean that my air bags are off. i cant figure out why it is on, or how to turn it off. can anyone help me out here?

I had this same problem during the summer- I took my car (01 EX Coupe) to the dealership - they replaced the seatbelt for free and reset the SRS indicator.
Your airbags are not on if the SRS light is on - at least that's what they told me. For me, my SRS light came back on 2 weeks ago. I took my car back to the dealership hoping they would replace the other seatbelt. Unfortunately, they told me that my computer's control unit is shot and needs to be replaced. $650. So they can't tell me if my seatbelt is the cause of the SRS light unless I get my computer control unit replaced. Good stuff, huh?
