Question Corroded front stabilizer link

My wife took her '01 Civic EX into the dealer last week because of some noise coming from the front end. The said it was a corroded front stabilizer link and that it didn't need to be replaced until it actually broke. My question is this: Is that safe? I've read a few other posts that leads me to believe that it might be best to just get this fixed now as opposed to waiting for something to happen. Also, what should fixing something like that cost? Thanks for the help.

Re: Corroded front stabilizer link

eh i would just get some better endlinks. the metal ones like what dezod.com sells, or some other ones. they should never break. the stock ones are very poor and ive gone through several sets already before switching to the all metal heavy duty design. and its rare that it would make noise, even if its broken. i doubt that would fix the noise problem you described.

Re: Corroded front stabilizer link

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll definitly look into the better links when I get it fixed. My main concern here though is safty. Is this something I can wait on? Or something that should be addressed sooner rather than later. I found this other post on the site and it's what has me concerned...

Re: Corroded front stabilizer link

technically the bar can fall off the car and you wont have a problem. it just affects the way the car handles around corners. when the link breaks, you will feel a bit of difference when you make turns, but nothing dangerous or extreme. some civics didnt even come with two stabilizer bars. i know the dx doesnt have a rear bar at all.
