fan switch and theromstat

Okay so my car is starting to over heat only when the car is idle or driving less than 30mph. i checked to see if the fans come on last night after a short drive and nothing. the fans do come on when the ac is on so i am thinking i have a faulty fan switch. so my question is...

1. Where can i get a fan switch? and it there one that possible turns the fans on earlier than the given stock temp?

2. Is there a theromstat that opens up at a cooler temp of our cars and where can i get this stuff?

Also the car is an 03 Lx

Thank you in advance
Regis

Re: fan switch and theromstat

i bet its just the fan thermo sensor thats screwed in near the thermostat. not the one that is at the top, that the ECT coolant temp sensor. the one on the side is for the fan. and it rarely comes on unless it gets really hot under there driving in the city on 80F+ sunny days. if youre overheating, it may just be a sticking thermostat. just replace it with a stock one and maybe get a new fan sensor switch too. may also be a water pump stanting to go out. overheating is a tough problem because so many things can cause it. thermostat, fan switch, coolant leaks, water pump, clogged radiator, possibly clogged heater core, ECT switch, bad coolant, etc.

Re: fan switch and theromstat

yeah i know overheating can be a lot of things. figure if i can start with the small thing first then ill work my way up to the big things. but the fans do work when the ac is on thats why i think its the fan switch but i also want a cooler thermostat to trick the ecu to give the car more fuel. its just a cheap mod

well i replaced the fan switch, and that allowed both fans to come on when the ac was on before it was just one and today the car was overheating again so i replaced the relay but nothing happened.

SO where can i buy a fan thermo sensor and where its because i didnt see it.
thanks
