sticky gear

I've noticed that since ive had my civic shifting into reverse is really stick goin in and out. The only real way to get it to go in is to shift into 1 2 3 or 4 and then go back to reverse. I was told to bleed my clutch and that didnt help so im just starting to think its just a saftey thing. Like how it wont let me shift from 5th to reverse (even tho it should) or it wont let me shift into 1st if im goin over 25 (again it should i belive) so any suggestions on how to stop this. I bled my clutch, pulled up the fabric around the stick to see if there was dirt or grim down there, checked the linkage and it all appears fine??? Anythin you guys kno that i dont that you would like to share....

Re: sticky gear

mine has been like that for awhile. your tranny is made from the factory to not be able to switch from 5th to reverse. for the simple fact that if you somehow slam it into reverse going at any speed of 5-10 mph, chances are your tranny goes BOOM. which is why you must always be at a complete stop when shifting into reverse. flush out the transmission fluid and you should be good. if you are really **** about your tranny i have heard of sticking a huge magnet on your tranny so the metal particles from normal wear and tear end up sticking on the magnetized surface, rather than float around in your tranny. dont think it is very necessary though.
