Are manual transmissions for 01 civics and 04 civics the same ?

And Does an EX(vtec) tranny work on a DX(non Vtec) ?

Im having the Input Shaft bearing problem so im debating between changing the bearing or replace the whole tranny (if i find one cheap that is)

help please

Any transmission put on ex/dx/lx civics from 01-05 are interchangeable. The gear ratios for EX transmissions are closer than the lx/dx transmissions so gas mileage might decrease slightly on the freeway but you would also theoretically gain a little acceleration.

Get a quote on how much the bearing would be to replace but I bet you could find a cheap transmission in the for sale section. I'd look there first.
