Passing emissions
*Puts flame suit on for not bothering to search*
Soooo.. A little bit of background..
I need to get my car emissions tested to transfer the title to my name (parents bought the car when I graduated high school).. I've been able to get away with not getting my car emissions tested because I've kept my car registered in NV and managed to be stationed in areas where emissions testing was not required. To transfer the title, I need to re-register my car, and I have to pass smog checks and visual inspections and whatnot. I was turbo'd but was forced to take it off because of complications.
more background..
Due to the complications that had arisen (electrical gremlins), my car started misfiring, thus starting to kill my catalytic converter. That throws a P0420 code, but no CEL. Also, I'm throwing a P1259 (VTEC system malfunction), prolly due to the VAFC-II controlling it right now, yet no CEL. I'm also throwing a P1298 (Electric Load Detector Circuit High Input), and thanks to da' foos, I have a DIY guid to diagnose the problem, and also, not CEL. I'm also throwing an intermittent P1457 (EVAP Emission Control System Leak Detected [Control Canister System]), which, when it does show up, it illuminates the CEL. I haven't gotten the P1457 in a while, and my dash has been free of CELs for a good 200 miles now.
Now the question..
If I'm throwing codes and no CEL, will I be able to pass a smog test?

Re: Passing emissions
Dude sorry, will get the P1457 troubleshooting to you tonight. Is there no where that you can take it and put the sniffer on it to see where you stand before subjecting to the entire test (and paying for it)?

Re: Passing emissions
in NV they do the OBD scan if the car is equipped with it, which our are. So, with that said, can I pass throwing codes and no CEL?

Holy emissions system malfunction Batman!! I hope you get the problems fixed. Just had to smog my car for registration (in CA) and I thank god that I am to poor to do any performance modifications to my engine because it passed no problem. Hope you pass smog man.

Re: Passing emissions
Well, thank God that the P1457 one hasn't come in yet *knock on wood*.. It randomly cleared about 200 miles ago and that's the one that illuminates the CEL.. For one reason or another, the "Catalytic System Efficiency Under Threshold" one doesn't.. We'll see what happens.. Hopefully someone that works in a smog check place can tell me whether or not I'll be fine.. or if anyone knows any shady inspection places in Vegas...
