strut bar installation messed up my alignment??

i just had a strut bar installed in the front and back.
My alignment seems off this morning. Its a front wheel drive, so when I have my steering wheel straight on my car goesinto the left lane!! so I have to steer it slightly to the right to go straight. WHat the hell! i just got an alignment last saturday!! and it was fine.

Re: strut bar installation messed up my alignment??

sounds like you left something loose somewhere...i'd check all your nuts and bolts to be sure everything is tight. was there any point where your suspension was unloaded when installing the bars? i've heard with you may have to jack the car a bit to get some bars to fit properly, but i would think something is loose somewhere. esp if the car is pulling to one side...

Re: strut bar installation messed up my alignment??

i had a shop do it for me... nothing seems loose. ive taken some pictures of the bars. One side's screws seem to be longer than the other.
They didnt jack the car up. They just removed the bolts, measured and adjusted the screws around...

Re: strut bar installation messed up my alignment??

you had a shop install a strut bar....

take it off and see if your alignment seems out of whack. nothing should have changed since they didn't even jack the car up to "close the gap" so to speak. start narrowing down the causes. failing that, a new alignment is in order.

Re: strut bar installation messed up my alignment??

haha sorry im a noob i dont even know how to change the oil....
i let the shop take care of all that.

so does the installation look okay? how come one side is longer the other? Everything is tightened pretty well. I think they used power tools. An alignment would fix the issue you think?

^ just go back to wherever you got the alignment (since you just got it on saturday) and tell them its still not driving straight and they should do it for you for free.

I agree with nameless, the shop should redo your alignment for free.

I am having a hard time with the fact that you paid someone to install a stupid strut bar. How much did you pay them to remove then replace 6 nuts?

Re: strut bar installation messed up my alignment??

does it look like its balanced correctly based on the length of how the nuts are positioned? I mean are they supposed to be balanced or can one end be longer than the other like how they installed it on me. Installation cost me 15 bucks, but thats because it was a friends friend's shop. I'll get the alignment again on saturday when I have time. thanks again
