Air/Fuel Ratio problem??? Confused...

Ok.. I j ust installed this guage pillar (oil pressure and boost are not hooked up yet) (and no i dont have boost yet either for reference)

ok the gauge has been working fine (well normal) for about 3 weeks now. then all of a sudden yesterday afternoon, after cranking the car the maintanence required light came on blinking for the first 10 sec or so.. well after that little bit of annoyance, i cleared it with the hold odometer tactic.. but, now this gauge for fuel/air ratio is like flippin out...

so here are some videos i took this moring to help you understand..

when the car is cold starting off, everything seems fine on the gauge, but then it starts to slowly get lower as time goes by. after about 30min, its totally going as low as it can go and you can actually hear the ticking of the gauge as it hits the low point. some points it even goes all the way to rich.

check out the videos desciption on the actuall youtube site (if you click the video while its playing), i say whats goin on in there...

let me know what you think, or things i could try to see wtf is going on. thanks in advance friends.

and yes all the videos are different. you can see the first like 3 are normal running and then by the last one you can see where it really starts going back and forth all the way from lean to rich.

Well, I'll bite, but I have more questions than answers. Hopefully they'll help get you going in the right direction.

The only gauge you have hooked up is the A/F ratio correct? And you have it hooked up to your narrowband sensor yes (vice a wideband)? Where did you tap into the signal line, and which sensor? Primary or secondary? Is it a Glowshift brand gauge? Is your car running any different now that the gauge is hooked up? Have you tried unhooking the gauge, clearing the code, and then running the car to see what happens?

Glowshift gauges are notoriously shoddy. And additionally, the stock narrowband sensor has been known to give bad readings. Hit back with answers and we'll take it from there.

throw it out. Narrowband O2 sensors dont do anything but put on a light show. I wouldnt trust anything it said regardless, and the pull of the gauge seems to destroy the sensors.

ditto they just keep fluctuating from lean to rich and so forth when driving. i had one but now it makes a nice paper weight. dont think glowshift a/f gauges work for our cars.

Re: Air/Fuel Ratio problem??? Confused...

The boost gauge I have (has a Garrett dial) is just a rebranded Glowshift. Construction-wise it seems OK, but car isn't running yet to see how accurate it is.

For the wideband, IMO go with one by PLX.
