Timing belt/waterpump question
Timing belt/waterpump question
I just got my car back from getting a free 40pt. inspection. Overall, my car is in good shape. I have a 2000 Honda Civic Coupe/4cyl/5 speed. I mentioned that I was getting close to needing my timing belt changed and asked for a quote. He came back with it printed on an invoice stating 338.00. I asked him what the charge was for labor. He said that was included.
Does this sound right?

Re: Timing belt/waterpump question
First off, your civic is a 00, that's not a 7th gen, its a 6th gen, so wrong forum.
Secondly, what's any of this have to do with a water pump?
Thirdly, that sounds cheaper than I would think. I would expect to spend about 500 maybe, roughly to have a timing belt changed. But it really isn't that difficult and doesn't take much time at all. I could probably do it inside of 2 hrs, so I have no idea why these shops charge so freaking much for it.

Re: Timing belt/waterpump question
i agree with the andyman. its not that hard to change a timing belt on ur car. i got mine changed for 187 dullars including parts and labor. but i live in ky. most ppl change their water pump when they change the timing belt too.
