Pumping Gas Problem

Hi,
A few months back I was stupid and let my 02 civic run out of gas. I was using a 1 gallon gas container to fill it up so i could drive to a gas station and a little piece of plastic about 3-4 inches Fell into my gas tank. But it didn't go all the way though, it's stuck somewhere in there because when i try to pump gas, the cylinder where you put the gas hose just fills up and makes the pump stop. I have tried to fish out the little piece of plastic to no avail. I was wondering if anyone has ever had this problem before. I called honda and they pretty much said the only way to fix this problem was to get a whole new gas tank.

Thanks.

What you should do is drop the gas tank and then get the filler hose and take it off and then see what you can do then about gettin the piece out.
