Engine noise

Hi Everybody,

Just got a 2003 honda civic from a honda dealer with 97000 miles on it. But I am beginning to notice that the car has a noisy(roaring) engine; especially when I am starting out. I've heard that Civics have a little noisy engine but I'm not sure how much is ok. Its a auto and I dont think there is a problem with the transmission. Could it be because of the timing belt? the dealer told me to change the timing belt after 105K. Is there any standard checks that I can perform on my own. Is it worth taking it to a mechanic and have it looked at? The car is in warranty period (30 day dealer warranty) as of now.
Please help!!

i agree.. timing belt will NOT cause any noise unless it's breaking up.. in which case, if it's breaking, the dealer will have to replace it...
