SIDE AIRBAG ISSUE/SUGGESTION
guys......
when i get my 2k2 sedan last january the dealer told me that getting a side airbag will be an A$$ because sometimes it will just come off/deploy with no real reason just because of sensor problem, he told me that most of their customers w/ airbags has this problem, & also the SIDE IMPACT BAR is enough, thats what he told me, WAT DA YA THINK GUYS?? is this true or what?

No, honda is having problems with the side air bags though
There is this guy at my work who has a 2k1 LX with side air bags and his SRS light flashes on and off periodically when someone is sitting in the passenger side or any pressure is put on the sides. I believe he told me he has complained about this to Honda several times and they're just now finally acknowledging there is an issue regarding the problem b/c more people have been complaining about it

If you read your manual the civic is designed with a sensor that is very sensitive
It shuts off the side airbags for small children and adults who get in the path of the airbag.
I rather have that then an exploded person.....

<< The guy is full of it. The side air bags are fine, the light just comes on if you lean the wrong way. The front air bags have been the problem. >>
the front airbags might not be a problem either, they are only designed to go off in certain types of crashes, and most people dont understand that

I don't have the side airbags in my vic but did have them in my previous accord. The light used to **** me off. Everytime someone leans or sits a certain way, the light goes on until they move. I guess it's a good thing that you could tell your passenger there in the path of an exploding airbag, but is it really necessary.

To tell them or to disable the bag?
I suspect that disabling the bag is better than a clean break between the 5th and 6th vertebrae when your passenger's head snaps back at 100+ mph. You can always tape ove the warning light if it bothers you.
