Need Help! Door Panel Removal
Hey guys, I am a new to this forum and I've searched and searched but could not find any answers. I have a 2004 honda civic and I am having problems taking off the door panel but I can't.
Can anyone please tell me how to take off the door panel? I am a novice, so simple instructions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!!!

well assuming it is the same design as the 01-03 civic. on the interior door handle there is a plastic sqaure cover, remove it. and remove the 2 screws.
then where the power switch is you will see a small cover in the arm on the door, remove the screw there. then lift up the arm and switch panel. then you will see 2 more screws under there. remove them and remove the door panel. remember that it is cliped to the door so dont break any clips.

also you have a sedan the screws under the arm rest do not exist.. you just have to yank the cover off
start at the front and work yer way back.. then everything else is the same
the whole cover pannle is held to the door by like 6 or 8 clips.. if you open the door and drag yer finger around the edge on the bottom you will feel a lil gap.. thats the best place to start...
dont forget to pop the mirror cover piece off the inside of the door
then the whole pannel lifts up
then reach behind and disconnect the powere window stuff

The plastic is so soft and easy to mark I'am afraid to take it off for fear of damage. If I can leave that in place the job may not be too hard. I have some Pioneers waiting.

"sonf"
aka
"soft"

ignore the x's they are for something else..
theres a screw under the window controls and one under the first x (left to right).. those two along with the two under the handle are the only ones that have to be removed (sedan).. the rest is just clips..
and by the handle staying in place.. i mean it stays mounted to the cover when you remove it.. not it stays mounted to the door and you remove the cover from around it...

here we go again
Here it is, as requested. This is for the front door, but all four should be the same. Only difference is an extra plug for the door lock switch.
1) Carefully stick a flat screwdriver in the top of the plastic rectangle cover and pop it off. There are two screws behind that. Take them off.

2) The handle is connected to a latch that opens the door. You have to pivot the brown plastic piece to the right so that the latch can be lifted out of the hole. Now you can pull out the door handle. The drivers side only will have another plug that you take off for the power lock switch.

3) Take a screwdriver to the spot shown and try to pry off the plastic cover on the power window switch.

4) Once the plastic piece pops off, you need to look for two screws a few inches inside. They are not on the outside, and it's too dark to see in the pics. They are recessed into the holes. Unplug the window switch in green as well. May take a screwdriver to push in the tabs and remove it.

5) Remove the tweeter panel by pulling it out from the top of the pod.

So now you've removed the door handle, the two screws holding the window switches, and the tweeter pod. The only thing holding the panel on are plastic clips (about 9 of them) around the edge of the panel. You can use a screwdriver and try to pry it off, or use your hands. The first time it's really tough to pull, but it will come out eventually. Just go all around the borders until the door panel feels loose. Now you grasp it from the bottom and by the handle and pull up.
Be careful when pulling the panel up, since you need to slide it up past the actual door lock. Once the panel is off, the door lock will fall down. Just pivot back up and stick it through the hole when putting everything back in. That's it! Now for the actual speaker install, you're on your own.

Question on Gearbox's # 4... I see the little square cut-out in the handles, I can get the front edge near the cut-out to release and come somewhat loose with flatblade. The piece seems tight will it release if pulled ?? The gray plastic is SO DAMN SOFT ! it is easy to damage stuff. Thanks for any input.

ya i broke mine so i can pull it off without tools. its fragile but you have to pull and poke to get it off. just stick a screwdriver in there and hope something will unhook.
