bumper repair
i have a crack in my front bumper, that is about 2" by 1" big and it sticks out. Do you think it would be better to cut the piece that sticks out so the bumper in that area would be fllat again and just go over with touch up paint?

for the love of crap dont cut yer bumper.. once if you do once it snaps back into place you will have a big gap.. you might wanna hit autozone (or whatever local autoparts store you have) and pick up some fiberglass resin and some glass (they sell lil kits with full instructions for like $20).. it wouldnt hurt to put a lil on the inside of the bumper to keep it from flexing and overlaping again due to driving on the highway or whatever.. its a bit of overkill to fiberglass it but it wont hurt and doing stuff with yer hands is a good thing
anyway.. tonight take a water bottle and put it in the freezer
tomorrow take yer bumper off.. bring it over to the lawn
now go get the frozen bottle of water
on the back (inside) of the bumper hold the bottle against the side of the crack that is pushed "in"
with the other hand give the bottle a good hard open palm punch.. you might have to do this a few times depending on how hard you hit it
once its flush again put yer bumper back on and be done with it..
before you ask
-you are using a frozen water bottle because it has more surface area than a hammer.. if you use a hammer theres a good chance you will hit it too hard and break the bumper.. this is the same reason you are hitting the bottle with your hand insted of swinging the bottle like a hammer..
-you are doing this on the lawn insted of on the pavement to prevent scratching the crap out of yer bumper
-the lawn also will allow the bumper to flex and theres a greater chance of it poping back into place
--- theres a diy in the diy section for how to remove yer bumper.. dont worry its way easy so dont be scared
