engine eating up alot of oil (UPDATED!!!)))

hye guys, i need 7thgeners help

i change oil every 3k. and when i did my last oil change, i only got back about 1 1/2 quartz of used oil. I usually get around 3 1/4 quartz.

so a sudden jump from 3 1/4 TO 1 1/2 quartz of used oil....is a big difference.

how come my engine all of the sudden ate up so much oil.

HELP PLZ

OK after 2 more thousand miles since last oilchange....the oil level is quite good...hasnt changed since (1/5" above the second dot). but the oil color is dark/black ish. car still smells like usual

Check your compression.
Ive been burning a half quart a week for over a year now. I used some engine restore and its down to a 1/4 of a quart now.

either you have a oil leak somewhere. or like above you are burning oil. an easy way to tell is look at your tail pipe, is it black and wet with oil? Also have a friend get behind you and follow you while you drive, if blue smoke comes out, your burning oil. but yes a compression/cylinder leak test will tell whats going on.

The only time i actually see smoke is at night. Have someone drive behind you with there lights on. Drop it in a lower gear and floor it, usually i can see the smoke in my rearveiw then. Ive tried many additives, but only the engine restore actually worked.

Check for leaks man it could be anything from an oil pan gasket an oil filter a drain plug, valve cover gasket, piston rings. Also everytime you change your oil you have to get a new crush washer for the drain plug from honda b/c its a one time use deal b/c it crushes every time its used. You can get by with the old crush washer but not recommended. But oil burning will be noticable at high rpm's more. Jus sit and rev it hard a few times and you will see a white cloud with a blue tint of smoke come out the tailpipe if it is indeed burning. If thats the case then you could try that restore stuff but im skeptical. The perfect fix is a teardown and ring it.

you could also always just check yer oil from time to time.. since yer changing it every 3k (good job) it should still be prettymuch a nice golden brown (almost new looking) even at 3k... take a look at yer dipstick before you bring it in next time.. if yer burning oil it will be.. well.. darker and a lil burnt looking
