Fuse on circuit board behind guages?

I made a boo boo when I was installing my head unit, and let the dimmer wire touch another wire that was hot. Now, the lights for my climate control and my speedo, fuel, etc. dont work.

I checked the fuses in the fuse boxes that I thought it might be, and all were good. So, I dug into the dash and checked the connector that plugs directly in to the guage cluster, and there's power getting all the way to the connection. I couldn't get the circuit board off of the guages to look at it, though. ((BTW, is there a way to do get that circuit board off? )) So, I'm thinking it's one of two things. 1) the circuit board is shot. 2) there's a fuse ON the board, and I popped it.

Is there hope for me at all? Or am I going to have to face the parts dept. at the dealer? I bet that baby isn't cheap.

Thanks for any help.

no hope. there is no fuse protecting the dimmer circuit. you will need new dash pieces and gauges for the lighting to work. the 2001-2002 gauges come apart and you can get to the board, but there are no fuses on it anywhere. ebay has this stuff pretty cheap if you search around.

Crap. That's not what I wanted to hear.

My car is an '05, btw. Not sure if that changes anything.

Thanks a ton for the quick help, dude.

01-05 use the same dash pieces. i have a spare piece for just the dials (fan/heat,cold/position) i can sell you cheap for $25 shipped. actually i also have a piece with the three buttons (ac/recirc/defrost) but the back housing is damaged, so you need to open yours and swap the circuitboard with my working one. the rest try ebay cause dealer will charge $100+ each! ebay usually has the center pieces for around $75.

do you have an 05 EX/LX with the new style cluster (led white numbers?) or is it just a dx. the dx will be cheap, otherwise the new style is expensive. used usually around $150 but dealer $500+ so again check ebay or junkyard.

let me know if you want the pieces i can do both piece around the radio area for $40 shipped and if you are interested i'll post pics of what you get.

I have a Value Package...so dx?

Yeah, I checked the small lights fuse, and it's good. Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the offer on the parts. I'll have to look at the check book to see what I can afford right now, and I'll get back with you shortly. Thanks.

hey gearbox i found some fuses on the cluster board. curict side most are in the upper right corner. there traces on the board labled Fxx where x is the number.

i dont have a cluster so i cant take pics. but if u take a pic of the back of one i'll circle them for u.

best news is that honda left solder tabs on them. so if one burns u use apropiate wire to fix it.
