TRansmission Oil question. HELP PLEASE.
Well my car has 86000 miles on it, now the transmission oil is brownish, well little bit.
I took the car to a mechanic , 2 of them, And i told them that i need a drain and refil, They told me has the tranny oil ever been changed.
I bought the car at 81000 miles, sooo i dont know if the last owner changed it or not.
They told me that they cannot CHANGE IT, IF THEY DO THAN IT WILL ***
UP THE TRANNY, if you dont know if the last owner did it or. THEY TOLD ME DRIVE,, big risk if you flush it or change it....
SO HELP ME OUT, WHAT SHOULD I DO. TAKE TO A HONDA DEALER? Let them look at it??? i think the oil needs to bee changed.
also when ever it catches , first gear, i feel a little jerk, only once in a while,, AUTO TRANNY.

it happens to auto sometimes. the new fluid will loosen some deposits which clogs the pump and ruins the trans due to fluid starvation.

I agree with what the mechanics say, but I would only agree if the fluid was black and smelled burnt. then it would be useless to change the fluid. If it is brown, but doesnt have a burnt smell, then more then likely it has been in the tranny for awhile and just needs to be changed. either have it flushed or just drain and fill it several times.

but see the shops want me to sign waivers that THEY WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE IF THE TRANNY BREAKS. scarry.
Should i take it to honda dealer tomorrow, and se what they say??

but see, i dont know if the last owner changed it or not, and also,
now it jerks when its low rpm like when it catches first gear. and when i let go of the accele in like 15mph, the RPM GOES ALL THE WAY DOWN. and then back up. weird.

every shop that does tranny flushes makes people sign that waiver. My old work did it too.
Now if you take it to honda they may be able to read values in the transmission and see if anything is out of the ordinary through there diagnostic equipment.

well I know with the cars I work on, we can go into the transmission control module and read all values of the electrical components and see fill times of and it will even tell us if there is a issue inside the transmission. if values are out of limits, it will tell you what to inspect. Honda may have the same thing, not sure though. just tell them your complaint about what it is doing.
