What exactly are these differences you guys are noticing with iridiums? The car runs better than the day you bought it with the oem plugs? I find that very hard to believe. It's all in your heads, i'd say.

the only thing i noticed was the iridium didnt use as much voltage, according to my voltmeter at idle. most people notice a difference because new plugs are better than old. i dont think anyone changed their plugs when they first bought the car.

I'm pondering whether or not to get the 235/40/17's, even though tirerack only recommends a rim size of 8.0"+ ... and mine is 7.5" ... but it's wider and 22 pounds vs. my 23 pounds ... I dunno.

I used to have 215/40/17 goodyear eagle f1 gsd3's ... those were 19 pounds according to tire rack .. but they didn't do well in the straight-line department ... and the ride was very rough [ie. I was afraid of bending my rims whenever I went over hugely uneven pavement/potholes]
yeah i have the 205/40/16's now on rota slips. they are actually pretty light combo but i want a larger tire. a 205/40 just isnt enough sidewall for me. i want a 215/45/16. my neighbor ran the toyo ra1's on his evo and loved them but they are a littel pricey. i totally understand your weight theory but remember weight doesnt even matter if traction is an issue. its ok to give up a few pounds for better traction.

You've misunderstood me.

I know all about iridium plugs and what the claims are, i wasn't born yesterday. I'm asking what people here, in this thread are actually noticing with iridium plugs. Because i think its all a bunch of bullshit. You should not notice any difference between plugs in our car as long as they are the right heat range, gap size, and torqued down properly. If anyone has noticed a difference, in my opinion its due to the fact that the plugs are brand new. Obviously new plugs will perform better than new plugs, but people probably say this improvement is because they're iridium, and not because the plugs are just brand new. Or, like i've said before, its all mental.

i bought 2 sets of ngk vpowers right before i bought these. they felt ok for about 7k or so. maybe even less. i noticed my milage dropped and it felt slugish. i check the plugs and they looked ok. i bought another set and they lasted about the same. so i decided to foot the bill for the iridiums. they run as good now as they day i put them in. my idle was smoother and it just felt smoother through out the power band. got my milage back and havent turned back. this is the 4th set of plugs i have had in the car. im at 78k now. the test will be if they hold like this past the 35k mark where the original plats crapped out. i have about 8k more miles to see how well they hold compared to the stock plats.
