don't use bosch plat. 2 plugs!
don't use bosch plat. 2 plugs!
i tried some last night and it ran worse. the ones i took out were NGK's but it was too late, i wanted to try the bosch's. put them in and went down the road and it was sluggish. Usually its quite peppy but not this time. went back to the shop and took em out, put the NGK's back in. don't waste your money on them.

Denso plugs...
the performance is good and havent changed since i installed them...currently, i am getting 30-31 MPG

ill prob go tommorrow and grab me some ngk v-power plugs for $2 a piece which is freaking cheap. the other ones for sale there are the IX Iridiums and some wierd Laser Platinum version of NGKs which costs more than the v-powered ones.

the only reason someone invented plat/irid plugs is for cars where it takes 4 hrs to change plugs. they do not last 100k and still run like new. neither does copper, but we can afford to change them. i've had mine in almost a year and they still run like new. i have another set waiting to install but really they dont even need changing yet.

I bought Bosch plugs for my Honda, but I'll be getting some Denso plugs here before long. I can already feel the loss in MPG and what little horsepower it already had

coppers wear out a lot quicker because of the softer material.

actually the oem plug for d17 is double platinum. and out of all the plugs i tried, the copper seems to give the best mileage and performance IMO so long as they are changed often. my stock plugs and iridiums ran like crap. omg dont remind me of the firestones. im just glad they only lasted 20k and i could get better ones
I got worse results w/ coppers than I did w/ iridiums.
to each their own.
firestones are trash. mine were completely bald [WITH proper rotations] by 20k miles. Treadwear rating 400 my ***.
my current michelin pilot sport 2's have gone ~25k miles with NO rotation and still have life [I was trying to wear that out fast to get different ones] ... those have a 220 wear rating ... of course there is more strain now as well since I'm not using a d17 ...
/end ramble

D you should try out some falken azenis 615's i have them on my dc2 and they have pretty good traction. i havent driven them much in the rain yet though. but of course i would rather have sticky dry tires where we live..LOL
I'm not really a fan of the azenis ... the older 215's in 225/45/17 were 26 pounds each, according to some sites ...
my current michelins 225/45/17 are 23 pounds, according to tirerack ...
I want to try to avoid heavy tires if possible ...
I'm pondering whether or not to get the 235/40/17's, even though tirerack only recommends a rim size of 8.0"+ ... and mine is 7.5" ... but it's wider and 22 pounds vs. my 23 pounds ... I dunno.
I used to have 215/40/17 goodyear eagle f1 gsd3's ... those were 19 pounds according to tire rack .. but they didn't do well in the straight-line department ... and the ride was very rough [ie. I was afraid of bending my rims whenever I went over hugely uneven pavement/potholes]

I've been rockin bosch platinum +4's for 35,000 to 40,000 miles and still have great gas mileage. I should pull them out and give them a look though.
