Timing Belt problems
Timing Belt problems
I have a 95 honda civic dx. It has app. 185000 miles on it. I just changed the timing belt last summer June 05. I parked the car last week to drive my summer car for awhile got in it today to start it up and the car won't start. The timing belt seems to be sqeeling real bad "ear peircing". It isn't any other belt b/c if it was the car would atleast start.. What could of caused this problem? The car ran perfect until i parked it last week.
Yes, it's an Acura EL

I actually ran into this problem too after I'd busted a motor mount bracket. After my friends and I replaced it I got this horrible squealing sound coming from the timing belt. After we pulled that side apart again, it turns out a section of plastic shroud had gotten wedged against the belt somehow and was rubbing on it pretty badly. I pulled the bracket off and my friends and I adjusted the shroud dealie. Now the squealing is gone, but I'm desperately saving some cash to get my timing belt replacement done just a bit early, before the thing snaps. Check that nothing is caught next to or in the belt.
I never thought of the water pump. I forgot all about that... I did replace it though when i did the timing belt. Maybe it just went to $hit, i dunno. I won't have the time to mess w/ it until this weekend. It sucks you have to pull the valve cover off in order to see the upper half of the belt... Thanks, guys for all the replies
