GC coilovers popping

YES!! I did search, but couldn't find this one. What was the solution to fixing the coilovers so that they don't pop when turning corners. I know the solution was posted one time or another, but I can't remember what it was.....BTW, my car looks phat lowered w/17's, but the front passenger side coilover is poppinh when turning. Whoever know the solution please let me know asap....THX!

I had a popping noise in my front strut when my springs were installed. After taking them apart I found that part #7 in the link was rubbing on the inside of the strut tower slightly. It was installed wrong and I flipped it around. Problems solved.

Hope this can help you.

According to GC, the popping has to do with the plastic bearing assembly that Honda used on the 2001 Civic's. Honda changed the design for the 2002's and are using a metal bearing assembly that can hold up to the centralized pressure on the bearing. I think that it may be possible to force the bearing to work properly by installing a rubber ring between the spring and the lower and upper machined aluminum perches that GC supplies with their coil-over kit. This theoretically should cause enough grip on the spring that the only rotatable surface would be the bearing assembly. OR...you could do like I did and order the parts for the 2002 Civic. I have not installed them yet but the assembly looks to be better. In order to do this conversion you need the following parts:

-Upper strut mount (Left and Right)
-Upper strut mount bearing (Left and Right = Same part #)
-2002 upper plate from GC

Hopefully this gains you some insight into the problem.

Terry

I could have sworn there was an easier solution. I remember a few months ago there were quite a few posts about it. I just can't remember for the life of me what the solution was!?!?!
