Transmission ?'s
Transmission ?'s
I have a 2001 Honda Civic EX with 84k. The other night my tranny went. My father who is a mechanic called me and told me it's going to cost $1800 to fix it & he didn't sound to enthused about fixing it either.
The catch is, if I decide to trade it in, the place where I bought the car ripped me the #### off.
I still owe about $8,000 on the damn thing and it's really only worth about $5000 now.
Should I fix the tranny or should I look into buying another car? Money is a little tight right now but if I bring it to a dealership to trade it in, will they even take it with there being something wrong with my tranny?
Help!!!!

well the trans needs to be fixed no matter what. i would call american honda and make them pay some of it, since 01-02 tranny have been proven to be defective already. most don't last past 100k miles because of a defective clutch pack carrier.

if its out of warranty, no. but like i said, they will pay some of the bill like 1/2 maybe if you convince them that you know about the problem (because they know it too).
