Rep Power: 252 driver door lock wont lock
this has happened to me randomly (at least 5 times since the past 3 years ive own my civic). sometimes my driver side door lock wont "lock" when i hit the unlock/lock switch located on the door panel. nor will my keyless entry lock it. however, my keyless entry lets me unlock the vehicle. so it leaves me locking the drivers door manually in order to secure my civic. i was hoping this issue will go away like the past 4 times, but its been like this for almost a month now.
heres things that i know of:
-the door lock/unlock tablet (the actual locking w/ red plastic tab) will move up and down if i use my fingers but very stiff
-passenger side is perfectly fine
-late 2003 model civic (did we have a recall on this?)

Rep Power: 0 try pullin the door handle on the inside out and hold then hit the lock button at the same time that will lock the driver side so that you wont have to use your key to lock it from the outside only if you have the key out of the ignition.

As far as I know there isn't a battery in the door. Seems likely that its an actuator.

Rep Power: 0 Saying there is a battery in the door is the dumbest thing i've ever heard of. There is no such thing as a battery being a door. The only way there would be a battery in the door would be if someone put one in there after they bought it for some reason (what that reason is i have no clue).

Rep Power: 258 No there is no battery. It's your door lock actuator. It's around $30 (estimate) for the actuator. Or you can spend $80 (estimate) on the entire door lock assembly. Difference between them... Door lock assembly is basically a bolt-on part. Pull the bad out, put the new in. The actuator is a little harder. Pull the current door lock assembly out, then figure out how to get just the actuator off and put the new on. Not as easy as it sounds, but also not something you need to pay someone loads of cash to do.
