airbox nuts/bolt problem

Exclamation airbox nuts/bolt problem

03 civic
i went to take off the air box cover (philips/10mm i believe) and all of them came loose except two, the plastic housing underneath that holds the nuts cracked and now they just spin... how do i fix this? i just wanted to check the filter and now i cant get the cover off. thanks in advance.

you need a new airbox. next time they shouldn't be so tight. just screwdriver tight is enough.

i just printed 3 TSB's to take with me to the dealer tomarrow, one for the box, one for the rocking seat, and one for compliance bushings in the front end.. again, thanks for the info.

oh yeah, and ive never had the airbox apart, so it wasnt me who cranked them to oblivion.. i dont know who did it last, but ill be careful when i put it all back together.. thanks for the tip.

the stupid dealer mechanics like to overtighten everything. someone needs to teach them what a torque wrench is.

i broke mine also. unfortunately, my car is already out of warranty. i just stripped the bottom plastic part that's supposed to hold the nut, so i could can a grip on the spinning nuts using a pair of pliers.

lousy dealers. if you have warranty, they MUST fix any tsb you bring in if it applies to your car or they can get sued. If this is the case and they denied you service (some of these problems are serious), call up american honda and complain. i'm sure they wont be happy with that dealer.
