i have just upgraded my rims to get some 17" mags and now i feel like i have to practically stop to go ove r speed humps and i feel every little bump in the road
my suspension seams really hard and when i hit a bump the back end seams to skip out a bit. is it normal should i go back to stock wheels? or can i upgrade my suspension to something softer??

This isn't a suspension issue. If your suspension was done, your car would bounce more than a $kank doing a gangbang. If you have 40 series tires on the they are no doubt alot thinner thus making for a rougher ride. You will notice every crack and imperfection in the road with 17" rims.

Moral of the story. What you are experiencing is normal. Get used to it

your new tires are alot closer to the ground with less rubber and air between the ground and the rim.

well i dont know the yer or milage on your car but your shocks could also be effecting the ride quality. i hsve 225/40/18 on my car and HAD a 2.5" drop with progress coils and stock shocks. i raised my car up with a set or eibach 1" drop with kyb agx shocks and it made a world of difference. but as mentioned above the huge difference your noticing is the rim/tire combo. you went with a larger rim and much smaller tire. so now the tire isnt absorbing any of the vibrations or bumps you normally dont feel. the car will track more and you will fell pretty much every bump and crack in the road. that is just the way it is with smaller tires. now you could go to a 215/45/17 that will help with the vibration issue and also aborb some of the bumpiness. but i am assuming that you are on a 205/40/17

Ya, such a bigger rim on any car will make the ride harsher.

is your suspension modified in any way? If it is, the only soultion would be to raise it up or go back to stock

theres really nothing u can do to your suspension to compensate for the road noise and ride harshness, because you moved to lower profile tires, and your tires grip way more than stock ones.

i recently went from stock 14" steelies to 17" work emotions CR kai with 215/45/R17 Kumho Ecstas 712. Yes, the road noise is noticeable at lower speeds, but at higher speeds, the wind noise and engine noise override it anyway. But I'm loving the way the car handles now, the traction and handling are way better than steelies, and not to mention how many times your car looks better than running steelies.
