Steering wheel not returning to middle?

Ok so here's the deal. If I turn my wheel all the way to the right, and then drive (without holding the wheel) the wheel will spin back eventually into its regular middle(straight) position, like it's supposed to. But when I do the same for the left, the wheel will stop spinning like just before it goes to the middle. A better way I can describe it is, if your wheel is straight, and you turn it completely sideways (like you were doing a 90 degree turn) it stops there and I have to manually bring it to the middle. Also if I am stopped and my wheel is straight, when I hit the gas the first thing the wheel does is go in that left position, as if my car things that is center. And for some background info, I ran up a curb pretty hard prior to this. What do I need fixed?

You may have a bad aligment, also does your car pull to the left if your going straight(not starting) with your hands off the steering wheel?

You need a new rack and pinion from your description of when you give it gas and the wheel turns on its own. Im guessing the car pulls the same direction that the wheel turns on its own? Its called a power steering imbalance. This hapens usually when a impact to the steering linkage twist the pinion shaft causing the valve to be stuck one way or the other. No real remidie other than replace rack and pinion This doesnt mean that there may not be other problems , but thats one BIG one
