Yes, but they don't ***-rape you on service. Free loaner, courtious staff. Problems are usually electrical too, like heated seats, or one small function doesn't work (not motor blowing up), and are replaced/repaired under warranty while you thrash their loaner. Japanese car manufacturer's warranty service leaves lots to be deisired. Also, if there is a known defect, such as the case with the S54 M3 motor (bearings slightly off spec from supplier) it is remedied immideately with a recall.

True. And most problems are electrical. My friends shop was tearing a beemer apart because the rear windows didn't work. They changed the switches, the motors, the cabin control unit, etc. I literally walked into the car, pulled out and reseated the window fuse, and fixed it. They were TOTALLY baffled.

I have a lot of experience with bad connections.... LOL! They wasted a whole week trying to find it. But I notice that most mechanics don't really understand car electrical systems. Everyone LOOKED at the fuse and saw it was good. But nobody checked if it was making connection in the fuse box.
It's a lot of weird stuff like that in german cars. If you understand them, they can be just as reliable.
