Engine is dead
Yup like it says shes toast. I went and picked up an 02 sensor today because i had a code read yesterday that said 02 sensor i also picked up the 02 mechinical sim from being bored at the shop. Then on the way home i hear a knock.
I figured i'd get it home then mess with it. Well it didnt make it. The knock got horrible within minutes and i knew it was bad. Very quickly it lost power and got really bad. As im forcing it to get home it gets very loud and apparent that the motor is toasted. Half a mile from my house she took her last breath and exhaled it from the cylinder closest to the alternator. I wanted to swap a k20a2 in a year when i had the money. Now im pissed because i only have enough to put the same lame d17a2 back in.
So now im on the lookout for a used d17A2. Also i think this was due to a bad oil pump. questions and comments welcome. Also any info on where i can get a cheap motor would be appreciated

84,000 and soon to be on life #2... Plus income tax put 1000 in the k fund. With honda fixing my car i can leave that money and in a year i'll have enough to throw this d17a2 in the river
I hope Honda will fix you car all right. However, keep in mind that you have mod your car. They might say something after they pop you hood. Is it possible for you to remove all the mod before you go to Honda? Just an advise. I know there is another car manufacturer decline the warranty after the job was done because he got an aftermarket intake.

ya since intakes cause oil to be sucked out of the pump too fast. also the header makes exhaust gases flow too fast which can be very hard on the oil pump as well.

why? you know thats what they'll say. the reason my dealer mechanic didn't tighten my plugs or fill the oil up was due to my aftermarket exhaust being present. i'm not exactly sure, but i think the exhaust causes a greater vacuum that pulls in the plugs so there is no need to tighten them. also the oil can be low since there isn't as much backpressure so the motor doesn't need as much to work properly.

Gear, that's pure BS. Where the hell did you hear that one?? Oh man.... and I thought after 20 years of wrenching I heard it all. Oh GOD....
But the point is, that ANY modifications on the engine will instantly be blamed for the failure and warranty void. I'm sure they have seminars at the dealers to look for ANY excuse to avoid honoring warranties. So we have to play their games. Go stock, and don't forget to remove that heavy pine tree air freshener from the mirror. It could be considered an "aftermarket" part.

well the thing is my car blew up a mile away from my house. I had it towed to honda yesterday. They know its modded but. In order for them to deny warranty dont they have to prove that those mods played a part in the blowing of the motor. A header and intake wont blow your car up. me beating the **** out of it blew it up. they have an estimator going down there today to check out the damages. also when i blew it up the hole is in front and back of the motor, its ugly. The service manager said hes never seen anything like it.
