Reverse not engaging sometimes

to begin, my car is a 2001 Civic DX 5spd coupe (canadian edition). I have noticed a problem since August that when I try to shift into reverse from stationary position, it refuses to engage. This only happens about 1 of every15 attempts but it still has me worried. The only thing which seems to work is pushing the clutch to floor and shifting into first...Then releasing the clutch (w/o using the accelerator) until the car begins to shake/move forward...Following that, I push the clutch back in and shift into neutral and then into reverse w/o a problem. My clutch seems to be engaging @ the mid-point....meaning, it is not close to releasing @ the floor but it is definately not releasing at the same height as when the car was new.

the car has 75,000km on it of which 50,000km are highway km.

Ya you need to line up your transmittion first befor you just shove it in reverse. Just go 1st gear, 2nd gear THEN go in reverse! This happens to the best of us though. I do this every time I go in reverse. Hope this helps!

Same thing here, people say that the reverse gear doesnt have syncros so that might be the problem, but if it doesnt go in I would put it back to neutral and then try again.
