Sliced Windshield Fluid Box
Sliced Windshield Fluid Box
Today my friend and I were putting in fog lights. We went to carve the plastic in the bumper off and by accident sliced a little of the windshield fluid box. There is a cut about halfway from the bottom of the box. It all leaked out and to patch it up we used bathtub cement glue. Do you guys think this will be good enough to fill in the slice? Any suggestions?
you were cutting the bumper while it was on the car? You shoulda removed the bumper first then cut, you'll have to remove the bumper anyways if youre gonna pull the wiring through. Anyways, the cement might hold, but the windshield washer fluid might eat away at the cement. Also, the cement might contaminant the fluid and plug up the tubing of windshield washer system. If you want to patch it, i suggest using some tubing patching stuff for radiators. The best and most expensive thing you could do is the obvious, but a new resevoir for the washer fluid.

Washer fluid is basically alcohol water. Its not exactly nasty stuff.
Any sort of plastic sealant, epoxy, silicone, jb weld etc.... should seal the thing, and if it doesn't, we're not talking about a major problem anyways.
without knowing what exactly bathtub cement is, who knows. If its like putty, then it should work fine, far more corrosive things are used to clean bathtubs than washer fluid.

Thanks guys. Ill see how that bath tub cement holds. I'll put some fluid in tomorrow morning. This cement is made to get wet so I hope it holds. If not I'll look for the radiator stuff. Replacing the box is way to much for me. there is only a little cut in the box.
