VTEC question

hey guys, i drive an 04 Auto Ex

i know that i have VTEC, but my friends say that i'm suppost to hear a sound go off when it kicks in.. the only thing i get when i step on the gas is a big pull, but soundwise i dont hear anything different... either my vtec is quieter than most.. or i'm just too dumb to hear it.

at what point does VTEC kick in?

thanks.

uhh i believe the VTEC on our motors actually kicks in around 4,300 if im not mistaken...? u wont here a sound go off or anything unless u install a beeper or something thats rigged to go off when the vtec kicks in... u can hear a slight difference in the sound that the motor makes, its much easier to hear if you have an intake and exhaust. the vtec on our cars is pretty pathetic seeing as how we have single over head cam (SOHC) engines... its much easier to hear on dual over head cam (DOHC) engines because they have vtec lobes on the intake and exhaust cams... hope it helps.
