Shifter rattles in 5th gear

Shifter rattles in 5th gear
I hear this rattle in 5th gear. I have an 02 civic ex and I was wondering what to do to prevent the rattle? If I barely put pressure on it while driving, it's whisper quiet (which I would love to accomplish). Any ideas? Thanks.

2 things come to mind. You may need to grease the shifter mechanism, cause it's probably bone dry. Or, the 2 points where the shift cables attach to the shifter need an extra shim washer (and a dab of grease) to take the play out and keep things quiet. I'd go for a little grease first. Ordinary white lithium grease in a tube works fine.
