i have a 01 civic sedan. well this happened to me twice in almost 6 months. in july i was coming back from work and i made this u turn off the highway, and as soon as i finished the turn, it felt like my car just downshifted or something, my CEL came on, i tried going to higher Rpms but couldn't go past 4000rpm i turned off the car and turned back on and the light and the limited rpms went away. can anyone tell me y did this happen?, it also happened to me yesterday.

i dont think its the alternator cuz that would mean my battery would go dead and all electical worked fine and start correctly

Question... were you low on gas when this happened? If you are low enough on gas, and hang a U turn, the fuel will slosh to one side of the tank and can cause momentary loss in fuel pressure. This in turn can trip the ECU. Once you turn the car off and back on, the gas is level and you have pressure... all is fine again. Could this be your problem?

Riiiight..... low engine oil.... Maybe... but usually a Vtec engagement failure.

vtec engages at 3000- 3300 so idk about that one but i think its my oil level got to check it
