Also, OEM is so expensive, that's why I want to avoid that (cost several dollars more then the exedy stage one clutch).

YES, i have that problem too. it has done it a little in the past, but today it started again and has been pissing me off. time for a fluid change i suppose.

That sounds like the input shaft bearing, another real winner on this POS gearbox.

I'm driving up to Sacramento next week to buy my second 86 Nissan truck. At least those LAST.

A PAIN. You have to drop the tranny and take it apart. If you do it yourself, you may as well change ALL the bearings with all steel ones from Japan or Germany.

Yep, that's why I really love the 85 Nissan truck. It's indestructible.

damn...its made the noise in the past, but gone away after a while. after driving it today its still making the noise. you think a fluid change would make a difference? also, what would cause the bearing to start going out in the first place...car has about 47k miles on it, last time i changed the fluid was at about 32k, started autocrossing at about 36k.

bump from the dead!...

so the shudder is caused by some type of glaze or contamination on the clutch? i know you said to let it wear itself off...but how long will that take? is there anyway to actively wear it off (read: should i beat the hell out of it? lol)

also, since i just got work on my transmission, its under warrenty. if a shop replaced a input shaft bearing and put in new clutch...its most likely their fault that its shuddering right? meaning this isn't a whole new problem im having, right?

They should have resurfaced the flywheel. You wouldn't have this problem out the box persay. Since the flywheel is such a small 'heat sink' it can happen realy easy. Just be easy with the clutch it well wear off over time, just rember it takes a second to be back were you stared.

Yeah..just let it wear off, I posted to this thread on page one, and it was happening sometimes, but it just wears right off...no problems since (generally it takes a couple hours to wear off...for me anyway)

a couple hours to wear off? oh ****, something must be really wrong with mine cuz its been doing it for like 2 weeks maybe. actually...like 3 days after i got the car back it started.

like other said, it doesn't shudder in the morning when the car isn't warmed up. or even when i first start to drive it...but then after a while it will start.

when it is doing it...it seems to do it less if i "race" the car. meaning take it to at least 3k before letting it out the clutch. i usually have to chirp the tires a bit other wise it will shudder like its going to stall....

Mine did it after driving it for a long time....Maybe it got hot or something...I dont really know...but most of the time it was only a couple hours of constant driving and it was good...

I've got the same issue, but mine is a 97 Civic DX. After about 15-20 minutes of driving, 1st gear becomes sensitive/picky. If I don't do it just right the car will shake--sometimes a small amount, sometimes quite hard. In second gear it will do it too, but litely.

Yeah, I was thinking about a new tranny, but screw it. I'll replace my timing belt myself instead, (95K)
