Unhappy Think I may have a problem.

I have 98K on my 01 Civic EX sedan, and I feel like I have no power anymore. I step on the gas and the higher the rpm the more I hear a ticking noise from the motor, I think it may need a valve adjustment or something of that nature but I'm not sure the car is bone stock so there isn't anything aftermarket that could be causing my loss of power and the ticking noise as the rpm's climb, the motor just sounds like its got nothing left. My poor car sounds like its screaming just going 70+mph on the highway. Does anyone know what I should look into getting done to help fix this?

Check all the normal stuff, PCV valve, air filter, plugs, wire ect. Afterthat I would check the valve clearances, but this sounds like a little more serious than that. If you can't figure out, better take it to a shop, because that kind of power lose is never a good thing.

sound could be the valve clearance, power could also be associated witht eh valves. Air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs would be a real good start! Fuel filter is pricey as its part of the fuel pump carriage.

check your timing, and ur belt.. toyota rav had this prob also... just clicks. valve adjustment might be needed if any have slipped.
