My car just started making a knocking sound. I was told that it could be my compressor going out. I remember that someone posted how to take the ac compressor out completely. I just want to disconnect the ac to see if the knocking will stop. Does anybody have any ideas or the link to the diy,or know how to take the belt of of just the compressor.

when does it knock? ... when idling, when driving, all the time?

have you looked in your engine bay when it's on? ... can you see the belts moving okay?

the knocking is all the time. gets louder and faster as I give it gas. the belts are moving fine.

louder and faster? ... maybe it's your axles.

I don't think it would be an a/c compressor ..
