Brake noise & A/C difference (EX, LX)

I wanted to combine two topics into one here...

First of all, I traded in my 02 EX manual for an 04 LX auto in March 05. When we got the LX, it only had 19,800 miles, now it's got 35900 miles and there's a loud brake noise coming from both front brakes. It sounds like the brakes are rubbing on the rotor, and the caliper isn't decompressing enough. Anyone else have this problem close at or around 35,000 miles? Could it be the brake calipers are bad, or the master cylinder? I never had this problem with my 02 EX, and I drove that car hard. This one's a family car. I'm not too worried since I have that 100,000 "Certified" warranty.

The other thing I want to point out is the LX a/c difference from the EX. At a standstill, the a/c is blowing light, and once i step on the gas, i've noticed the a/c actually gets stronger. Do the EX civics get a stronger a/c system? Just curious...

As for the brakes, you need to pull off the wheels and physically check everything. You may just have worn out pads or you could have worn out rotors, stuck up calipers, etc... Does it happen more when stopping or at all times? Even if you have 100K warranty, depending on your coverage, usually calipers and master cylinders and brake boosters are the only thing covered. But again, pull everything off and check. That is the easiest way to figuring out what is going on. More then likely a visual inspection will lead you to your problem.

Not sure about the AC though, they should all be the same.

yes the ac does that in my ex. that happens becuase the engine is running slower and the electric blower is powered by the alternator/battery that is running off the engine. most electical things will do that, once you start moving the car, they get stronger. just check your headlights next time at night.

***UPDATE!!!***
Well, I went ahead and purchased a new set of brake pads that weekend (2 weeks ago), and took out the pads on the car. Turns out the pads on the inside of the brake rotor were really, really worn down.

So for anyone experiencing a scratchy, loud, annoying noise coming from either side of the front of the car, INSPECT the brakes. It's the easiest thing to diagnose (and probably the cheapest to replace!).

I'm just glad it wasn't anything major...
