fuel milage

I read many post in some searches I did and I can see that many people here do between 400-450 miles a tank .. ?!?!?! My biggest milage was 460 KILOMETERS (I live in Canada). I was gonna bring it to the dealer for a full inspection b4 winter so they will be changing my fuel filter and some other stuff (forgot the list) its a type D inspection ... but would anyone have any idea why my car burns more or what I could do to enhance my MGP. THANKS

I dont know what 460 kilometers amounts to in regular miles, but there are several threads around that discuss how to improve your mileage. here is one.

Its your driving. Up until last week I was ready to get rid of my vic, because the mileage sucked. I got like 320 per tank.
I adjusted my driving habits like cruise at 40 mph in 4th gear and stopped braking while in gear and my mileage for a half tank went to 200+.

Its the way you drive.

don't really "eat" what people said about their MPG/KPG...

it really depends on WHERE they drive......even though they said 'city' or 'highway', nobody really know whats going on.....

also, it really depends on the way you push the gas pedal.....braking habit also control the amount of MPG/KPG ur getting!

don't forget to adjust your tire pressure........probably also consider using the fuel treatment every 3000+ miles...

you really need to measure it by driving all highway miles. city miles are usually very low and always change depending on how many traffic lights, idle, etc. Anyway, www.lubecontrol.com is your friend. put that in your gas and oil and be amazed.

is ur car new? cuz when I first bought my car back in 2001, I used to get only about 330max per tank until about 15,000miles on the car
Now I get about 360(minimum)~400 city/highway driving it really depends on how I drive (I sometimes drive crazy hehe )
oh i have auto if it matters.

Gas mileage

I drove like an old man for one full tank. A mix of highway and city driving.
I got 630 km (391 miles) on that tank.
Since then I had the engine partially rebuilt , replaced TDC sensor, knock sensor, exhaust manifold/cat.
Added short ram intake.

2001 LX 4 dr, 5 spd.

I will try again to check the difference.

Have had as little as 280 miles per tank. But best i had is 400. Sometimes i drive quite hard and that includes alot of stop start driving. Just to make you boys feel better, we pay twice as much for juice than you boys. The joys of being British.

i don't think age makes much difference
when my 01 was new i went on a trip,
checked it at 46 mpg {imperial gallons not us]
now with 114k on it i get 47mpg
thats running around 120 to 130 kph highway
for you US guys that would be 75 to 80 mph

Hey man,

I just posted a thread re:fuel mileage myself. I own a 2002 SiR and only get about 500km's per tank our about 10L/100kms. We are in the same boat. EPA suggests like 7.1L/100kms. I am not even close to that on the highway! I have even resorted to driving like 90kms on the highway. It helps but **** that is some shitty mileage. I have 120,000k's on my car and need to change the fuel filter soon. I may go to a k&N filter. I do have a Typhoon SR intake system and I thought this was supposed to get me better mileage. What did the dealership say about your mileage?

I am from Canada by the way too.
