rolls backwards in drive

If I am on an moderate incline and I stop, when I take my foot off of the brake the car will roll backwards untill I hit the gas. Is this normal in an Automatic, 05 Civic, LX sedan?
Thanks.

Yes, I hate it. I usually do a left foot brake as needed.

makes sense... not enough pressure in the torque converter to spin 1st gear. Almost any car does it. Whats the time between foot off brake and foot on gas? 1/2 a second?

Thanksfor your response. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't something wrong with the car. My other cars don't do this.

heheh...it's normal...our civics dont produce enough torque at engine idle to hold the car still...

actually, if you let it roll far and fast enough, you can actually stall the engine...

not exactly true. alot of cars will roll backwards when in a incline. I havent seen one that stays still on an incline.

Well my parents Grand Cherokee stays put, it actually climbs in even steep hils at idle, lol.

most SUVs won't roll or cars with V6+ engines. More torque

Actually does anyone with a manual ever notice that if you hold the car still with the clutch and gas on a hill, instead of jumping off the brake to stop the roll that your car seems to shift a little differently, like the clutch got spongy almost?

I have an 02 EX and it does that. Mine drifts forward when I pull into my driveway and try to back out.
