Unhappy High pitched noise? help plz

Hi, Im nick, 2001 civic ex 2 door

I bought the car used 113k miles.. all highway, one owner

Has a high pitched noice when making acceleration more than 1k over what would be running at, with the current speed. Not sure what it is, of course its more obvious when your running a/c and seems to jerk a little when accelerating hard with the a/c. Otherwise it runs great with it off, but still that sound is there. Anyone got any ideas? I have a CAI on it now, but had sound prior to that, and still is same sound. Thanks!

No, i have no idea where it is coming from. When i had the honda check it out before i bought it, the guy said the noise he heard was normal... oddly enough, yesterday sitiing at a red light, a red civic 7th gen went around me and accelerated and i heard the high pitched noise... maybe it is normal?? i dunno...

Another question for those are reading this... being at 118k miles... is it recomended to put a TSI Turbo on? Should i get engine polished up a bit first? Any info would be helpful, thanks!

Its my only car and i just got it, so i dont want to break it... but i want it to be faster for sure. Thanks!

as for the noise, best bet would be to get a stethoscope and use it to pin point where the noise is coming from. It could be normal, but noone here will know unless they listen to it. There are millions of things on a car that could make noises.

yeah i know sucks... i have a friend that works up at honda and i rolled into his place last night after work, of course the car is warm at this point, and does not make the noise.... so maybe its ok, but i could have sworn it NEVER did that before... i also get a wierd noise when turning off the car, but he says thats normal with a CAI because its the noise of the air moving back out of the tube (which is a totally diff noise)

Question though, with just a CAI and maybe exhaust, with plans to go turbo, what Fuel System Managment/New ECU Upgrade would you recomend for tuning so i can get my full HP gains. GReddy e-manage? I would like to hook up to a laptop, but the aem one is over 1,5k and is out of my budget, id rather do a k20a swap.....

Whats your opinion on the VTec controllers? Recomend and brand besides spoon...? Thanks!

I've got the same noise. Sounds like a turbo on an eighteen-wheeler. It's more noticeable when I'm going under an underpass. I'm not going to worry about it. My cars runs well and gets good gas mileage.

yeah i feel same way, but what the hell is this noise? i only hear it when i accelerate and more noticble in tunnels etc, when the noise is bounced off the objects close by...

and theres another noise thats only there when the car hasnt heated up yet, sounds like its in the trann area down low under the enigne, you can hear from inside the car if the window is open, but doesnt change in sound when pressing the gas... sounds like a slow pump strungling almost is what i would think.... raur raur raur raur. any input?

The noise could be the transmission pump. Better have it check, especially if you are having "jerky" problems when you step on the gas. There is a filter for our transmissions but it's inside and can't be seen or replaced unless you take the tranny apart. So, this filter gets clogged up over time and the pump can't pass fluid through it anymore. Just something to remember. If you do have an automatic that is!

My transmission just died and about two weeks ago I started to notice a high-pitched, wining noise coming from someplace. It almost sounded like a belt rubbing against something but two sources said it was probably having to do with my tranny. Once my tranny gets rebuilt I'll be able to tell if that actually was causing it.

Just a head's up for you. I am not saying this is it. You may want to take your car to a transmission specialist, not Honda. I think you can get free quotes.

Good Luck!

Not worry eh? Well, I just had to fork out $2,500 for a rebuilt transmission. Again, have it checked just to be safe man.
