Excessive cranking at start up
Well, I finally got Honda to fix my excessive cranking problem that I had after going to 3 different dealerships all together now. It turned out that this particular dealership has had several other Civics with the same problem. All they did was just replace the fuel pump with a new one. Every thing appears to be working fine now. The guy said that after he replaced the fuel pump on the other cars those people haven't had any other complaints about it. I have read on here that several other people have had the same problem too so I thought I would pass the info along. Hope this helps.

nice info, hopefully anyone with a newer civic could benefit from this thread if a faulty fuel pump is the case.

Re: Excessive cranking at start up
so mine 2011 hatchback does something strange when starting a COLD engine.
when i push the start button for 1-2 seconds, the car starts perfectly but i hear the igniting sound loudly, like if instead of a start button i was turning a key, i'd have done it for too long as make the scratchy / squeaky noise.
when the car is warm, its perfectly fine ...
is this normal?
