Could it be something with the clutch?
Could it be something with the clutch?
Total newbie here. 2005 civic hybrid, 200k miles, first major problem. When on the highway at high speed, without warning, the engine revs up about 1500 rpms when going up hill or just cruising. It feels like the clutch is disengaging and the sound of the engine increases as so does the tach rpms. It happens out of the blue and to get it to stop I just back off on the gas. It happens sometimes at lower speeds. Here in town I have no problem getting around and everything seems just fine. Please give me a start on what is going on. I GREATLY appreciate any help with this. johnboy1951.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

If manual transmission, it sounds like it needs a clutch job ASAP! You will be stranded shortly if you keep trying to drive it.
If CVT transmission, you are probably gonna need a lot of money.
